Native to what is now the European Alps, Ladinia simplex was a species of cycad that grew during the Early Triassic, around 245 million years ago. It was discovered in 2010 by the Italian author and researcher Michael Wachtler.

The cones of this cycad were sexually dimorphic, and each individual plant was either male or female.
