Also known as the Cry violet, the Cry Pansy (Viola cryana) was a flowering plant endemic to the Yonne department in France. It was named after the Cry region, and was mostly restricted to limestone outcrops. The Cry Pansy grew up to about 12 cm tall, and had light purple flowers. It went extinct due to a combination of habitat destruction (in the form of excessive limestone quarrying), and overharvesting by plant collectors. By 1930 it was extinct in the wild, and by 1950 the last known specimens in captivity died.
